WINTER IN SAINT PIERRE DE CHARTREUSE
The ski season runs from mid December to mid March. It may not be as long a season as some of the higher resorts, but you've got good snow and excellent tree-line skiing on your doorstep during the best weeks of the year. And importantly, there are no crowds here.
When the snowfalls begin in November, Saint Pierre and the region is transformed into a charming picture postcard ski area - perfectly suited for families, groups and people looking to get away from the winter crowds. For a more authentic ski experience, you need look no further – Saint Pierre has everything you need at a fraction of the cost of the higher resorts in almost every respect.
The village lies at 900m, and the ski area rises up to 1,800m. There are 35km of groomed downhill pistes (6 green, 5 blue, 9 red and 4 black), official slalom course and freestyle course, 2 nursey slopes, and 2 kids’ clubs. The ski area is served by 1 telecabine, 2 chair lifts, 16 ski lifts and 2 ESF (nursery) lifts. The entire ski area is tree lined and crowd free, and the lift pass is an affordable €20 per day or €95 per week. The area also offers 33km of snowshoe trails and more than 70km of Cross Country trails.
Besides its charming ski area, the village of Saint Pierre is home to shops, stalls, bars, restaurants and a weekend market. There are a range of things to do in the evening too like torchlit skiing, tobogganing, and snowmobile rides along with more the traditional 'après ski' activities.
You may have less active designs for your evenings, and prefer the company of friends and family in the comfort of your own home. And here is where Villa Marie-Louise comes into its own. Like a home from home, it offers a warm & friendly environment to return to after a day out on the slopes. The house comes fully equipped for a large family, with catering equipment that befits its location in the mountains - so you can enjoy that Savoyarde fondue, or cheese raclette. Whether you want fine dining, a selection of regional wines, or simple chillout time in front of the DVD player, we have everything you need to make your stay a pleasant and enjoyable one.
Out on the mountain there are a handful of charming auberges which are well located at the top, middle and bottom of the ski area - so refreshment is never far away. And the ski school is located at the mid station - at 1350m, which is connected by the gondola and a handful of other lifts.
Villa Marie Louise is located just 50m from the lift pass office and gondola. We are right in the centre of the village with easy access to everything!
