Villa Marie-Louise was lovingly restored during 2012/2013. The house was constructed in the 1930's and is a fine example of a Savoyarde period home. The villa boasts high ceilings, hardwood floors throughout, a feature fireplace overlooking a huge dining room and a sun terrace with unbeatable views. The decor and furniture are certainly not conventional chalet material. This family house has a colourful international history, and this is reflected by a strong Moroccan influence that permeates the interior decor.
Arranged over three floors, the house offers 5 large bedrooms (which can comfortably sleep 13/14 people), three of which are ensuite, and four of which benefit from private balconies. A large common bathroom is available for the remaining two rooms, and there are standalone toilets on both the ground and second floor.
Downstairs on the ground floor, a large reception area containing the dining room and lounge opens out onto a beautiful west facing terrace with table, chairs and a large parasol. Inside, there are two dining tables available offering 8 and 4 seats respectively. The tables can be put together or split depending on whether you prefer the adults and children to eat separately. A spacious and fully equipped French kitchen adjoins the dining room. If you have a passion for local dishes, then we have a selection of great regional cooking equipment, including raclette machines and fondue sets.
The lounge area offers sofa seating for 8/9 persons, and comes equipped with satellite TV, DVD player, music /radio player and unlimited wifi. An extra fridge is located here too should you want to stock up on wines and soft drinks. One of the sofas in the lounge can also be converted into a single sofa bed should the need arise.
The house has central heating throughout, following a major upgrade to the chauffage system and insulation in 2013. All windows and French doors are double glazed and sealed. In addition, a powerful wood-burning stove is located in the dining room inside the feature fireplace. The house is warm and cosy, despite the grand room dimensions and large glazed doors.
The house is perfectly geared towards family groups or a group of friends. Not only is it a stone's throw from the centre of town and its shops, bars and restaurants, it is just 50m from the main gondola station and the liftpass office.
